Not so long ago registration on Gmail could only be done through invitations from users who already had a verifiable web account with Gmail. The situation has now changed as there are no restrictions on who can sign up on Gmail. A Gmail account can be created through a Google account if one already exists. If there is no preexisting Google account, a Gmail account can be opened by following the registration process. The privacy policy statement has to be agreed with before opening a Gmail account. Signing up on Gmail is quick and easy as it only takes a few minutes to create a Gmail account.
