1. Save Battery Life (When It Is Running Low)

When your iPhone battery is running low, turning off the following settings can help make your iPhone last longer. With these off, you can still receive calls, SMS and even go online with EDGE connection.

1. Settings > Wi-Fi > Off.
2. Settings > Bluetooth > Off.
3. Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Off.
4. Settings > General > Cellular > Enable 3G > Off.
5. Settings > General > Cellular > Enable LTE > Off.
6. Settings > Sounds > Vibrate on Ring & Silent > Off.
7. Settings > Brightness & Wallpaper > Auto-Brightness > Off.

2. Stop The Music With A Timer

Do you like to listen to music when getting into bed for the night but often doze off without switching the iPhone off? You can use a timer to help you shut down the music. To do this, tap on Clock > Timer > When Timer Ends. Scroll down and tap Stop Playing. Then, set a timer (say 30 mins) and tap Start. Now you may play any music and it will be turned off after 30 mins.

3. Delete Last Digit in Calculator App

Entered a wrong digit in the Calculator app? Instead of tapping the Clear [C] button, you can just swipe your finger to the left or right of the numbers to clear the last digit. Each swipe will remove the last digit until the number becomes zero.

4. Set An Alphanumeric Passcode

Add an extra layer of protection to your iPhone with an alphanumeric passcode. To activate it, go to Settings > General > Passcode Lock. Turn off Simple Passcode and you will be prompted to enter your alphanumeric password.

5. Use Headphone Cord to Take Photo

Shaky hands not getting you good photos? Well you can trigger a snapshot using the volume up or down buttons on your headphone.

6. Switch Shooting Directions in Panorama

Tap the arrow in Panorama mode to switch the shooting direction so you can take a panorama picture from left to right or right to left.

7. Find Word Or Phrase within a Web page

Searching for a word or phrase in a web page? In Safari, type in the word in the search bar on the top right and tap Search. In the results page, scroll all the way down and you will see how many words were found on the web pages. Tap on the searched word/phrase and you will be directed back to the web page with the searched word/phrase highlighted in yellow.

8. Undo Typing To Delete Typed Message

Hate getting carpal tunnel on your fingers from clearing your written SMS? Try this trick. Shake your iPhone and tap Undo Typing to delete your message. Changed your mind? Shake your iPhone again and tap on Redo Typing to retrieve your original message.

Windows 10 devices to allow sign in with face, iris

Washington (AFP) - The new Windows 10 operating system will allow users to sign in to a device without a password by using biometrics, including facial recognition, Microsoft announced Tuesday.
Microsoft said its Windows Hello feature will support biometric authentication as part of an effort to reduce the use of passwords, which can often be hacked.
This means "using your face, iris, or fingerprint to unlock your devices," Microsoft vice president Joe Belfiore said in a blog post.
"You -- uniquely you -- plus your device are the keys to your Windows experience, apps, data and even websites and services, not a random assortment of letters and numbers that are easily forgotten, hacked, or written down and pinned to a bulletin board."
The move comes following a wave of reports about hacking into databases, which can lead to identity theft and other crimes.
Apple and Samsung have already begun putting fingerprint sensors on their smartphones, and other types of biometrics are being developed across a range of products and services.
Belfiore said Windows Hello offers improved online security because it "enables you to authenticate applications, enterprise content, and even certain online experiences without a password being stored on your device or in a network server at all."

Microsoft has begun testing for Windows 10, which is being developed for both traditional PCs and mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones. No precise date has been given for its launch.
Belfiore said "there will be plenty of exciting new Windows 10 devices to choose from which will support Windows Hello," and that if the device already has a fingerprint reader, it will be compatible with the new authentication system.

For facial or iris detection, "Windows Hello uses a combination of special hardware and software to accurately verify it is you -- not a picture of you or someone trying to impersonate you," he wrote.
"The cameras use infrared technology to identify your face or iris and can recognize you in a variety of lighting conditions."
Microsoft also announced that developers of other services would accept the same authentication under the programming system dubbed "Passport."
This provides a more secure way of letting users sign in to website or apps.
This opt-in system will verify the user of a device before authenticating that person for the wider range of services accepting Passport.
"Instead of using a shared or shareable secret like a password, Windows 10 helps to securely authenticate to applications, websites and networks on your behalf -- without sending up a password. Thus, there is no shared password stored on their servers for a hacker to potentially compromise," Belfiore said

WhatsApp Is Now Available On The Desktop NO NEED TO BE DOWNLOAD

WhatApp has launched a desktop client service called WhatsApp Web.

 WhatsApp Web can be used by scanning a QR code with your phone to log in. WhatsApp Web mirrors the conversations and messages from your mobile device so your messages will still live on your phone.

There are several limitations with WhatsApp Web. The biggest limitation is that iOS devices are not supported. WhatsApp Web is accessible through Android, Windows Phone, BlackBerry or Nokia S60 devices.

 You will need to have the latest version of WhatsApp installed on your phone and you have to run WhatsApp Web from the Google GOOGL +0.52% Chrome web browser. WhatsApp plans to launch WhatsApp Web for iOS users, but that timeframe is unknown. The reason why WhatsApp Web is not available for iOS now is due to “Apple AAPL +1.7% platform limitations.”

Why do you have to take a picture of a QR code to log into WhatsApp Web? WhatsApp uses phone numbers and SMS  to verify users instead of traditional usernames and passwords. This is why you do not see a normal login screen.

 TechCrunch also pointed out that it somehow uses your phone for more than just the initial login. If you phone dies, then your WhatsApp Web session also disconnects.

Earlier this week, a third party app built off of WhatsApp called WhatsApp+ shut down after receiving a cease-and-desist letter from the messaging service. WhatsApp also temporarily banned users that downloaded and actively used the WhatsApp+ app.  WhatsApp+ allowed users to change the colors and background

images in chat conversations. It also allowed users to block people from seeing when you read their messages and offered the ability to increase the size limit of audio and video files. WhatsApp+ was 

downloaded over 35 million times since launching in 2012. “Our goal is always to keep WhatsApp fast and secure for the people 
who use it – it’s the most important thing we do,” said a WhatsApp spokesman in an interview with BBC. “Third-parties that have built unauthorized functionality on top of WhatsApp create issues for people including lost messages.”

WhatsApp was created by Brian Acton and Jan Koum in 2009.
 The two of them left Yahoo! in 2007 and applied for jobs at 

Facebook, but failed during the interview process. In February 2013, WhatsApp hit 200 million active users. One year later, Facebook announced that they acquired WhatsApp for $19 billion — which is the largest purchase of a company backed by venture capitalists. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that the acquisition of WhatsApp was connected to his vision for Internet.org, an initiative to develop basic Internet services for developing countries around the world. Now WhatsApp has over 700 million active users sending over 30 billion messages per day. In the product development pipeline, WhatsApp also has plans to launch a voice-calling service.

Windows 10 Will Log You In Using Your Biometric Data

 Are you looking forward to Windows 10? Many people are thanks to the resounding disappointment Windows 8 seemed to be with the masses. The last Windows version I used was 7, and I have to say I thought it ran smoothly and I don’t remember any problems with it. Windows 10 is making some big changes, however, starting with the way you login to the computer in the first place. Forget passwords – Windows 10 will apparently let you login with a scan of your face. In other words, it will use biometric data to unlock your computer. Apart from a scan of your whole face, it will also reportedly allow you to login with a retinal scan as well as a read of your fingerprint(s). This feature will be known as Windows Hello.

Microsoft is doing this due to the ease with which passwords are hacked, and while no system is completely foolproof, this move certainly seems to be a step in the right direction.

I currently use a Macbook, and without the KeyChain feature, I’m not sure what I’d do about all of the passwords I have; it really is unfortunate we are now so dependent upon passwords that things could really get messed up if we forget one of them.

Apart from the biometric data feature, Cortana will also be available as a digital assistant.
