Here's how to share the internet connection of your iPhone with other devices. In other words, use your iPhone as a modem.
Prerequisites
- You need to be in an area with mobile network coverage (classic, 3G,4G).
- Only iPhones running iOS 4.3 or higher come with tethering options.
- Make sure your data plan allows internet sharing. Some mobile operators don't support tethering options. In some cases Data tethering is available as an extra option for your data plan, this option may few dollars per month, but it allows you to use your iPhone as a modem.
How to enable data tethering?

Enabling Tethering on the iPhone
- Tap on Settings.
- Go to General > Network.
- Scroll to Connection Sharing.
- From there follow the onscreen instructions
Using the iPhone as a USB modem
- The procedure is very simple: Connect the iPhone to the computer via USB cable.
- The iPhone will be recognized as a standard network connection that is automatically activated under Windows.
iPhone as a Bluetooth modem
- To use the iPhone as a Bluetooth modem, simply activate the bluetooth on the computer and on the iPhone (in the menu Settings> General> Bluetooth) and then pair the iPhone and the computer.
iPhone as a WiFi modem
- On the iPhone, WiFi must be enabled. The network configuration tool will allow you to enter the password of your choice
- On the computer, select the iPhone from the list of available wireless network and enter the password to connect.
